How To Make a Website with WordPress – Part 1 of 3

With each client I work with, the first step in planning their social media strategy is to evaluate their website. I often find there are some elements missing that we will need in order to run an effective social media campaign, and to truly generate leads to sales. These missing pieces are often the following

1. Good search engine optimization

2. A blog

3. An opt-in form to capture emails

And often, the easiest way to incorporate these pieces into a website is through a website redesign. You may find yourself in this same situation. If your website was created 3 or 4 years ago by a web designer you no longer work with, you may be in this same boat.

Once we decide a website redesign is necessary, I always recommend using WordPress to create the new website. There are so many reasons why WordPress is the best platform, in my opinion, to create your website upon.

1. Makes SEO easy

2. Easy to set up the blogging feature

3. Easy to add opt-in forms

4. You can make changes yourself, no need to pay an expensive designer

These are only 4 reasons, but they are enough. I know many of you are marketing your businesses with very little budget, and that's great. I do the same thing myself. But if you're not able to pay to have a WordPress site created for you, then you will need to make one yourself.

The good news is you can do just that, make your own website using WordPress for only the price of a domain and hosting. This is what I did and it was the best way to go when I started my business. It would have taken me months to save up enough to pay a designer to create one. Plus, I've made a lot of changes to my site over the years. My site grows with my business.

So for those of you ready to create your own website, I have created a series of training videos that will show you how to make your own WordPress website. And I am giving these to you for free. You don't have to sign up. You don't need to give up your email. I could charge money for this product, I've decided to give it to you for free. Why am I giving this valuable information away? Because one of my goals in building my own business is that I want to serve people like you. I want to help as many small businesses as I can to move forward. I want you to have a good working website that will be an excellent marketing tool. I believe our country will rebuild our economic strength through small business owners like you and me. This is how I can do my part.

These videos are created for a true beginner. You do not need to know a lot about web design. You do not need to know how to code. You do not need to have experience in the IT field to do this. I am going to show you every click to make to set up your own WordPress website.

In this video, you will learn how to:

  •  Buy a domain and hosting plan through Hostgator. (Full disclosure: If you purchase through this link, I will receive a small commission. I use Hostgator, and know it's the best hosting out there for people creating their own websites.)
  • Install WordPress on your own domain

This first video is the technical pieces that stop most people from attempting to make their own websites. Don't let this top you. I show you every click, really. You will see EXACTLY what to do to set this up properly. I have also included information on how you can get help from Hostgator if you run into any snags. They are great at customer service, which is why I recommend them so highly.

So if you are interested in making your own website with WordPress, join us as we get started! There will be two more training videos after this one that will walk you all the way through the entire process.

To Your Success,

    Hi Deborah,
This sounds great and would be very helpful. I’m in the beginners slot and need a boost. Will the fact that I have UK2net as my host make much difference?

  2. Mark Newton

Thanks for Paying it forward Deborah. You are awesome.

  3. Deborah Richmond

Yes, it makes a difference if you are using a host that is not Hostgator. If you know how to install WordPress onto your hosting account, then you can jump forward a little in the videos and start there where we start customizing the theme.
